This is a historic game of the Viking era and a favorite for centuries. Hnefatafl is printed on Belgium linen. This has the Runes of the Elder Futhark alphabet along the side of each board and the name Hnefatafl and Fawnridge-Arts at top and bottom. Set is 13"x13" and comes with playing pieces, easy to read rules and carrying bag. Great for travel and family fun. This game is backed in black. Such a great game and a really good option for the usual price of this game. If you and/or someone you love is into Nordic, medieval and/or board games get them this. The board is cloth and the whole thing folds up into a small drawstring pouch. The rules to the game do vary so if you want check out wikipedia on it as well as the rules that come with the game to customize your playing experience. In short the attacking team is trying to capture the king and the king's team is trying to escape to one of the four corners. Pieces can move any number of spaces vertical or horizontal and capture other pieces by flanking them on both sides. More complex than Checkers and less complex than Chess, also beautifully unfair for one side than the other! (that's where the customization of the rules come in).
