I'll HAPPILY explain. I bought a pair of the CRX-4's they are great but I HAD to buy a Focusrite sound card to have quarter inch outputs! One of my woofers blew like, seemingly overnight while it was doing nothing. So I contact the company to be told things like "I don't have time to sit on the phone with you" because I was *QUICKLY* checking for the receipt and I mouthed that I was looking for it. It took me seconds but I called back and his buddy answered or whatever. Probably because he didn't WANT TO DO HIS JOB LIKE HE TOLD ME IN THE QUOTES ABOVE. If someone from Tech Support "Doesn't have the time to be on the phone" WHY ARE THEY ANSWERING PHONES THEN!? And since when does a company like this talk to it's PAID customers like this? I sent them the receipt, a video of the woofer playing intermittent sound. They responded with some GREAT stuff (I'm going to paraphrase their response/last email to me). Essentially since they saw my Focusrite Solo on top of the speaker, they assumed I was listening to my mixes or recording etc. which you absolutely can do with that unit! It's great but I never used it to do any "professional level recording". They assumed I was preamping my speakers with the Focusrite. JUST because that Focusrite unit being there foir 1/4" output. They told me they watched my video WITH A TEAM and determined it was user error because my Mackie CRX knob was at the 3 o clock position. The Focus rite is perfect at 50% but can go higher. I ALWAYS left A TON of headroom. I know what I'm doing. Even though they claim my knob settings were too extreme and were the cause of the blown speaker (that is ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT. I don't see how these are extreme settings at all.) I control my volume from my keyboard and at 100 (in Windows), there was NO CLIPPING, nothing was wrong. I loved these speakers they served me damn great. Its just crazy how fast they went and how I was treated by Mackie. I have never been treated worse by a company in my life. They lasted me just under 9 months of very normal use. Just the ONE woofer went .. but they were ATROCIOUS about it. AWESOME hardware but don't count on them accepting the fact that *YOU* didn't break it through "user error". Absolutely atrocious. I'll HAVE fix the issue myself. AND I WENT AND BOUGHT THE MACKIE CRX-5. AFTER GETTING TALKED TO SO DISRESPECTFULLY! They act/sound like I'm ruining their day for calling and I should KNOW EVERYTHING. *Rude punks* in control of warranty claims. Yep. Of course they denied me when I voiced my concern over how people act towards CUSTOMERS. *2021* - The word "Rude" will be villain-ized. Not the first time a rude punk got mad when they were told to their face that they were being RUDE. WON'T be the last. Turn on the TV!One of the speakers was broken. It sounded all crackly.Used to complete my first home studio! Awesome choice! Great value!Es muy excelente tiene una buena mescla de volumenNice speakers, but they distort too easily. I'm just plugged into my computers sound card so it's not like they are being over driven. Volume is very loud, just distorted.Turn the volume leveling down in Winamp / Media Player / VLC etc, and crank the volume up on the physical speakers....distorted.Do the opposite, volume down on the physical speakers, and volume up on the software....distorted.If your playing computer games, they are fine. If you use them for chatting over the internet, they are fine, but for music.....get something else.
