I did allot of research on widescreen curved monitors before purchasing the Dell U3818DW. I needed a single monitor to replace the multiple monitor setup my for DAW recording studio. I bought a new audio desk and I needed to find the widest monitor possible to fit in between the racks built into the desk. Since the reviews were all consistently positive on this model and the size was right I decided to spend the extra money and purchase this one. So far I have been really happy with it and everything worked out perfect in terms of fitting the workspace, monitor arm, screen resolution and compatibility with Microsoft Windows 10. All of my software (Yamaha Studio Manager and ProTools 2019) also worked beautifully. The sharpness of the image, reduced glare and the wide format are perfectly suited to cram all of these applications onto one large viewing area. So it appears I can finally say goodbye to the multiple monitor configuration that I have been using. The other features that this monitor has is a built in speaker and a USB hub which came in handy to connect my wired keyboard and mouse since I do not use wireless in my studio. The speaker is OK and works as a good output for Windows OS sounds and playing music when my studio monitors are off. Not world beating audio quality but a serviceable alternative to using a separate speaker system. No additional cables or wires were necessary using the HDMI/Display Port cable to the computer. All in all this a well built and engineered piece of monitor technology and for the price point it was a perfect choice for my studio application. As with all things time will tell on the longevity and durability of the product but for now I am really pleased. I have not used the Dell software for using multiple input sources but that is something that I will likely explore down the road. As it is now I have not had to load any additional software or drivers so that is one less thing to contend with.
