I should have bought this in the first place. Note that you must use 2 separate adapters to connect to a macbook air. Plugging 2 inputs into this one will not work.I use a Microsoft Surface tablet had two different video converters in my bag. Switching to this converter means less stuff in my bag. So far it is working great, and it is at a good price.With that said, I was using an HDMI only converter from StarTech which stopped working after a few months. It's hard to say if quality issues will be present in all StartTech items, but my experience is that you may expect these items to have a more limited lifetime than desired. We've ordered extras at the office so we can quickly replace them - but it is a real drag to show up at a client only to find out that you cannot connect to a projector - and carrying backups in your bag defeats the purpose.Had a cheap version from a different provider but my new PC had dual mini-display ports thus I opted to add the 2nd monitor using an adapter. I was impatient and Star Tech was next day available so I paid the extra bucks. I didn't realize that the refresh rate and clarity could be effected by what I considered to be an adapter from A to B. In fact I swapped the monitors as I thought one of the pair was not as good as the other. Wow. the adapter does make a difference. I ordered a second and gave the cheap one to a co-worker.StarTech is a reliable brand; glad there's at least one source of quality products in a sea of poorly made knock-offs.It is a little pricey in my opinion. It is just a small little cable ... but I needed it.DO NOT PURCHASE FOR USE WITH SURFACE PRO 4 DOCK. Set up 4 different surface pro 4's and ordered one of these for each dock. This thing is great for travel and works well when plugged into the surface pro 4 itself, but it DOES NOT WORK with the surface pro 4 dock. For the dock, you'll need to buy what's known as an "active" adapter.I got the product as expected.Perfect for my surface pro. Fast deliveryStartech always works straight away with no fuss. Ive bought for my surface pro 3 and docking station to add two screens for a full desktop experience, two dvi connections didn't work but had it working in 2 VGA, 2 hdmi, and 1 hdmi 1 VGA configuration. 3 screens in total including the surface, very slick setup. Not sure why two dvi didn't work but that's beyond my tech prowess and happy with hdmi.The StarTech Mini DisplayPort to VGA/DVI/HDMI Adapter Converter and its little brother, the StarTech Mini DisplayPort to VGA Video Adapter, BOTH work with the Dell XPS 13.They are however slightly fussy about the order in which they are installed. (1) insert the adaptor into the laptop mini displayport; (2) power up the laptop; (3) hook up the monitor; (4) switch on the monitor; (5) hit F8 to select your display priorities.I have only had them a couple of days, but they feel like solid kit.
